How is this affecting family planning?

I am coming at this from a complete lay persons perspective.1st born was born weighing 11lb 1oz. Natural birth, around 7 hours long. No problems.2nd pregnancy I was shoved under consultant care before the pregnancy test line had even turned pink and told 'if we'd known how big your son was going to be we'd have made you have a caesarian'. Charming. Long story short, I hired a doula and had a home birth which was attended by 4 NHS midwives in the end. Baby born weighing 11lb 1oz again. This time in around 3 hours.I'd decided that for baby number 3 I would hire an IM. We're in a better position financially now to be able to do that and feel that we/I would be better supported from the outset this time round. I'm not pregnant by the way but planned to be in the next year or so.All this has halted our plans. I will not decide to have another baby if we'll be forced into hospital from the outset or made to freebirth.

I feel the same. I was treated badly by my original community midwives and so hired IM's. We won't consider extending our family until this is all sorted because I don't want to birth without them by my side again. When did we get dragged back to a time when women aren't allowed to make their own choices? Saddens me so much.

I feel the same. After a very traumatic birth and subsequent PTSD, I won't be having another baby unless I can have continuity of care, in the hands of someone I trust. Even if that's just to take me into an elective section.

Same here. Traumatic birth and PTSD with my first, hadn't felt supported at all so decided I would be hiring an IM for any subsequent babies and started saving up even though we won't be having another baby for a few years atleast. I truly hope all of this can get sorted, otherwise I guess we'll just have to have an only child. There's no way I'm risking putting myself through what I experienced with my first again.
